Race Registration

NON FIS EVENT Race registration requirements for 2021 Season

  1. All registration will be completed online via US Ski and Snowboard event online registration through the athletes My USSA portal. Registration will close 5 days prior to the first Team Captains Meeting of that event. (ie Wild West Series starts on Friday for Men and Sunday for Women, the reg will close Sunday night prior for all).
  2. Coaches must complete their online registration for the event by the same deadline as the athletes.
  3. The first one hundred athletes to register will be entered in the event. There will be no ‘waiting list’ available. Any pulls prior to the entry deadline need to go through the race organizer, allowing further athletes to register. Pulls after the entry deadline will not be refunded.
  4. Registration will open 45 days prior to the Team Captains Meeting of an event. Race announcements need to be out prior to this 45 day window. Any delay in opening of the registration will be announced via the Far West Office eblast system.
  5. Resort liability waivers must be received by the Organizing Committee no later than 48 hours after the close of online registration. There will be no opportunity to turn them in at the Team Captains Meeting and an athlete will be pulled from the event.
  6. No late registration will be available.
  7. Athletes are required to use their Far West purchased bib for the 2021 season for all Far West age class events (TRS race bibs through their program).
  8. Items to be included on the Race Announcement from the organizing committee:
    1. Ticket purchase process/order
    2. Pre event symptom check process
    3. Parent ticket info, if available
    4. Race area requirements, i.e. lift loading guides, indoor facility information, virtual awards links (physical awards prohibited), team captains meeting platform (link not necessary on the race announcement), race document delivery process (start lists, ref reports, results).
    5. Area ROL to be attached
    6. Other required reminders:
      1. athlete responsibility for equipment rules (222.1)
      2. face coverings required (223.1.1)
      3. team inspection times will be utilized
      4. physical scoreboard prohibited
      5. team areas will be available above the start for athletes and coaches only.

FIS ATHLETE REGISTRATION  All athletes, including alternates, must respond by the prescribed deadline listed on the FIS schedule below, with all registration paperwork, mountain liability forms and payment. ALL ATHLETES, INCLUDING ALTERNATES, WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE SELECTION LIST, AND WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR DISCRETIONARY SELECTION, IF ANY OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET BY THE PRESCRIBED RESPONSE TIME.
Payment for FIS events will be completed via the US Ski and Snowboard Onine Event registration (make sure you select the division the FIS event is being held in to find the race).

U19/U21/SR Specific Announcements

  • all athletes must hold a U.S. Ski & Snowboardand Far West U16+ Competitors License (www.ussa.org to complete both)
  • U16+ Races are run as U.S. Ski & Snowboardsanctioned, scored events
  • Start order for U16 and older races is based on U.S. Ski & Snowboardpoints, top 15 are a random draw, followed by points order, and a random draw for all 999.99 athletes.
  • 2nd run is in bibbo order for the top 30, followed by athletes fastest to slowest. Athletes that DNF or DSQ in the 1st run will be allowed to take a 2nd run immediately following the final qualified competitor, unless decided upon by the jury at least one hour prior to the start of the race that post runs will not be allowed.
  • NEW NEW NEW  US Ski and Snowboard has banned the use of all fluoronated wax,m for all athletes.
  • NEW NEW NEW  US Ski and Snowboard  recommends the following FIS start limitations for the 20-21 season:
    25 SL and GS Starts for YOB 2005 and 2006
    35 SL and GS Starts for YOB 2004
  • NEW NEW NEW US Ski and Snowboard Prohibits Southern Hemisphere racing for first year FIS athletes
  • All athletes, including atlernates, must respond by the prescribed deadline listed on the FIS schedule below, with all registration paperwork, mountain liability forms and payment in order to be considered for the entry sheet. 
  • Grand Prix Series - notated with an * in the above schedule. 

    For the 2021 season the Grand Prix series will consist 3 weekends of U.S. Ski & Snowboard/Far West events plus the Far West Finals Tech and SG Finals.

    The Grand Prix series is scored for U19’s as a series to qualify for scholarships to be used for the following season. The places are determined by adding up the total World Cup Points earned during ALL the races listed in the Grand Prix series for that season. Each race is scored by separating only the U19 class. Foreign, out of division, current USST and U16 participants in each race are removed and results are sorted by class prior to assigning WCP’s for each race. 

    Overall Champions from the Grand Prix Series will be awarded the following:

                1st  place – U19 men/women       $1800 Scholarship 
                 2019 Recipients:    Gunnar Barnwell and Maya Wong

                2nd place – U19 men/women       $900 Scholarship
                 2019 Recipients: Chili Messner and Jillian Larrabee

                3rd  place – U19 men/women      $600 Scholarship
                2019 Recipients: William Lewison and Elizabeth Scott

Western Region JR Championships - March 16-21, 2021,  Schweitzer

Quota:  14 Men       14  Women     SL.GS.SG
There is open qualifying amongst all U21 and U19’s; no one is protected. Selections will be based on the RSBM as follows:

  1. Up to a three-column board, with best U.S. Ski & Snowboard points from the designated points list by discipline (SL, GS, SG).
  2. To appear on the board in all three columns an athlete must have started in one Far West Division scored US Ski & Snowboard race in the current season prior to the designated points list validation date.
  3. U.S. Ski & Snowboard points from list #17, valid March 4, 2021 will be used
  4. Far West Division will select 90% of the men and women Quotas and hold 10% of the quotas (men and women) slots in reserve for discretionary selection. If no discretionary spots are used, the next alternates will be placed in these spots. To be selected by the U21/U19 Discretionary/Development Committee of 5, representing different teams.
  5. Alternate list of 30 men and 30 women.
  6. All athletes, including alternates, must respond by the prescribed deadline listed at www.fwskiing.org with all registration paperwork, mountain liability forms and payment.
  7. These selections will open on March 4, 2021
